Come join our team. The City of Caldwell is looking for a Road Technician III.

Individual operates a variety of heavy equipment to support the City’s Street, drainage and right-of-way construction, maintenance and repair operations; performs related work as required. The principal function of an employee in this class is to operate heavy equipment such as trucks, backhoe, excavator, asphalt paver, motor grader, bulldozer and front-end loader to support the City’s Street and public works construction, maintenance and repair projects. The work is performed under the supervision of the Streets Superintendent. The principal duties of this class are performed in an outdoor environment, which may involve adverse weather conditions and related hazards.

Education, Training and/or Experience Required:

  • Training and at least five years' work experience operating and maintaining heavy equipment. Qualifying equipment includes front-end loader, excavator, backhoe, motor grader, asphalt paver and/or similar equipment.

Licenses, Certifications and Other Requirements: 

  • Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license
  • Possess a State of Idaho Class A CDL, No Restrictions with Tanker Endorsement
  • Flagger certification
  • CPR certification
  • First Aid certified
  • Position is subject to on-call and service response within a specified amount of time
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background check, drug testing and physical
  • Random DOT drug testing

Preferred:

  • Additional Endorsements:   Doubles/Triples; Hazmat
  • Road Scholar 
  • Road Scholar Master
