The Citizen Police Academy (CPA) provides an opportunity for citizens to learn firsthand about police operations. Through a series of lectures, field trips, and simulated activities citizens are provided training similar to that of an actual police officer. This program is intended to open the lines of communication between the Community and the Police Department. This program allows citizens a firsthand look at what rules, regulations and policies the police follow. By hosting this program, some of the misunderstanding between police and community may be alleviated. The objective of the Citizen Police Academy is to produce informed citizens.
