BEFORE VISITING PROPERTY and EVIDENCEPlease contact the Property and Evidence Division via email (cpdrecords@cityofcaldwell.org) or at 208-455-3115. You can then schedule an appointment to retrieve your property. Without an appointment, you may not be able to pick up your property. PROPERTY WILL NOT BE RELEASED WITHOUT PROPER AUTHORIZATIONYou must bring with your valid government-issued photo identification and your report number as well as any paperwork that was sent to you (notification letter, disposition sheet). If you do not know the report number associated with your property, you may contact the Caldwell Police Department at 208-455-3115. Our Records or Property and Evidence Division will assist you in locating that information and setting up an appointment to pick up your property. FIREARMS RELEASE PROCEDUREIf one or more firearms belonging to you were seized by this department, you will need to fill out and return to us a Seized Weapons Affidavit before any firearm will be released. You must then schedule an appointment to pick up your items. If you do not bring the affidavit, your appointment will be cancelled. If you are the rightful owner of the gun(s) but have a felony conviction and/or or have a criminal protection order meeting the Brady record disqualifier, and/or have been adjudicated as a mental defective and/or you have been committed to a mental institution and/or have a state disqualifier, or are on probation, we are unable to release the weapon(s) to you; however, you may elect to transfer ownership of the firearm(s) to a qualified party who does not reside with you, which requires an Acknowledgement Form, dated, signed, and notarized by both you and the other party. The other party must also qualify as a lawful possessor by completing a Gun Release Affidavit for verification. The other party will have to pass a background check prior to release, and they must sign a notarized statement that the guns will not go back into your possession.
